Buy The Richie Evans Book Online Now! - Fast Life and Times of NASCAR's Greatest Modified Driver - Richie! #61 -By Bones Bourcier

From farm boy to nine-time NASCAR National Champion, Richie Evans raced through life in the fast lane. Motorsports biographer Bones Bourcier was along for much of the ride as a reporter, observer and friend, and now he tells the complete and unabridged story of the man voted “NASCAR's greatest modified driver.”

Weaving together over 300 photographs and excerpts from hundreds of hours of interviews with competitors, crew members, friends and family members, “RICHIE!” takes us on a virtual journey back to the time when modifieds ruled and Evans was King. This is the perfect gift for racing fans of all ages.

The recognized “king” of Modified racing, Evans captured nine NASCAR Modified titles in a 13-year span, including eight in a row from 1978-85. In the first year of the current NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour format in 1985, Evans won 12 races, including a sweep of all four events at Thompson, Conn.

Gentlemen:

I just finished reading the book, and have to say I was so impressed and became so emotionally involved because I lived through many of those same times.  I started watching races at Fonda in 1956, and when Albany-Saratoga went to pavement, that became my home on Fridays.  It was a thrill to watch some the Fonda regulars compete against the asphalt crowd of New England

 and NY.

Please pass along my compliments to Bones Bourcier

for writing such a fascinating biography and helping us remember the past.  I couldn't put the book down with the exception of when it got to 1985.  I lived through that sadness once, stopped reading, but had to finish.

 Soft cover, over 350 pages.
